Performance Specs and Cargo Capacity of the 2020 Honda HR-V
Those drivers looking for a subcompact SUV to drive through urban environments will find in the 2020 Honda HR-V the perfect fit. The smallest crossover in the Honda lineup offers the maneuverability of a smaller car and the cargo space of a larger SUV, bringing in the best of both worlds. All five trims (LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, and Touring) feature a single powertrain that delivers solid fuel economy scores* and boast plenty of room for both passengers and cargo. Join Honda of Victoria as we delve into the performance specs and cargo capacity of the 2020 Honda HR-V and find out how this model can make your daily drives much more convenient.
All trims of the 2020 Honda HR-V get powered by a naturally aspirated 1.8-liter, four-cylinder engine that delivers 141 horsepower and 127 pound-feet of torque. This powertrain is mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission, which is controlled by dual-mode paddle shifters in all trims but the base LX. This version of the 2020 HR-V, together with the Sport, EX, and EX-L trims, can be outfitted with either two- or all-wheel-drive. The range-topping Touring grade can only be had with all-wheel drive.
Depending on the drivetrain you choose, the HR-V achieves different fuel-efficiency ratings. When equipped with two-wheel drive, all trims earn an EPA-estimated fuel economy* of 28 mpg in the city, 34 mpg on the highway, and 30 combined mpg. The LX trim with all-wheel drive delivers 27 city mpg, 31 highway mpg, and 29 combined mpg while the rest of the lineup achieves 26, 31, and 28 mpg, respectively.
No matter which grade you opt for, the HR-V can accommodate up to five passengers across two rows of seats. When it comes to cargo volume, however, dimensions vary depending on the trim and drivetrain selected. With the rear seats up, a 2020 Honda HR-V that is equipped with two-wheel-drive has 24.3 cubic feet of cargo volume. Folding the rear seat down increases the area to 58.8 cubic feet.
If you choose an HR-V with all-wheel drive, you will see a few more differences among the available trim levels. Behind the rear seats, all AWD-equipped models feature 23.2 cubic feet of space. When the 60/40 split second-row seats are folded down, the LX and Sport grades offer a maximum cargo volume of 57.6 cubic feet, while the EX, EX-L, and Touring trims have up to 55.9 cubic feet of space available.
