The incredible hybrid performance of the 2021 Honda Insight is thanks to its hybrid powertrain system which consists of an engine, electric motor, and battery. The engine used in the powertrain is a 1.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine that produces up to 107 horsepower and 99 lb-ft of torque. The electric motor in this powertrain is an AC Synchronous Permanent-Magnet Electric Motor. This electric motor delivers up to 129 horsepower and 197 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the Honda Insight powertrain comes with a Lithium-Ion battery. The total horsepower produced by this system comes up to 151.5 horsepower. Paired with the hybrid powertrain system is an Electronic Continuously Variable Transmission with Shift-By-Wire, Sport Mode and Deceleration Selectors.
