2018 Honda Odyssey minivan new updates and features
It’s January, and that means it is time for automakers worldwide to bring their latest models and ideas to the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), also known as the Detroit Auto Show, since it takes place in the storied Motor City. Honda joined the occasion, and the automaker brought with it the new Honda Odyssey minivan, a popular vehicle among large families. Let’s take a closer look at the 2018 Honda Odyssey minivan new updates and features.
2018 Honda Odyssey design and connectivity
For the new model, the Honda Odyssey retains a sophisticated and family-friendly design, now incorporating the flying wing front grille that is a signature of Honda’s, with available LED headlights on either side. A new Active Shutter Grille is concealed underneath a bold facade, and it is designed to provide better fuel efficiency when drivers are cruising. Sliding door tracks are hidden in the lower section of the rear quarter windows, and LED taillights and an available hands-free power tailgate with foot activation complete the sleek new exterior.
Inside, drivers and passengers will be greeted with comfortable materials, and even a soft-touch instrument panel. A seven-inch, full-color TFT display is included in the instrument panel, and an available eight-inch, high-resolution Display Audio Touchscreen can be added to the center of the dashboard.
In today’s world it is important to remain connected wherever you go, and the 2018 Honda Odyssey has you covered in that regard. New Display Audio features intuitive menus and an easy-to-use touchscreen menu, plus it is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. CabinWatch allows the driver and front passenger to keep an eye on the passengers behind them, which is perfect in case the situation gets a bit unruly. To go with CabinWatch, CabinTalk lets the driver talk to second- and third-row passengers through speakers or headphones so no shouting is necessary. Those passengers will also love the Connected Rear Entertainment System, which allows them to watch streaming video on the ceiling-mounted, 10.2-inch screen.
New Magic Slide seats in the 2018 Honda Odyssey
One of the most innovative new design features in the 2018 Honda Odyssey is the seating flexibility offered by the new Magic Slide seats in the second row. These seats can be arranged in different configurations depending on what your ride will entail. Easy Access mode has the center seat removed, and the outboard seats are given the chance to slide laterally through five selectable positions, which allows for easier access to the third row. Super mode sees the driver’s side seat set to walk-in position to allow the best access to the third row. Wide mode removes the center seat and has the two outer seats at their outermost positions for a wide center walkthrough to the third row. Buddy mode removes the center seat and puts the two outer seat right beside each other and within easier reach of those in the front seats.
Any way you slice it, the new 2018 Honda Odyssey is built with families in mind. The minivan is expected to hit dealerships this spring. Stay in touch with the Honda of Victoria blog for more updates as they are available!
